4. Applications

This section applies to all mobile applications developed under TechOrigin.

4.1 HostOrigin

4.1.1 About the Application

HostOrigin is an Android application that analyzes the external resources of a website in order to determine the geographic origin of the servers hosting those resources.

The application allows users to:

  • enter a website URL
  • scan external resources of the webpage
  • determine the country where the hosting servers are located
  • classify hosting as EU or Non-EU
  • generate a report of the scan results
4.1.2 Data Collection

HostOrigin is designed to minimize data collection.

Information entered by the user

The application may process the following information provided directly by the user:

  • website URLs entered for scanning

This information is used only for performing the scan requested by the user.

Authentication

The application may use Google Sign-In for user authentication.

When using Google Sign-In, authentication is handled by Google. HostOrigin does not store or access your Google account password.

Basic profile information provided by Google (such as email or account identifier) may be used only for authentication purposes.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To improve the application's performance and user experience, HostOrigin uses a third-party analytics tool that collects limited, pseudonymized usage data.

This may include:

  • interaction patterns (e.g., taps, navigation, and session behavior)
  • device type
  • general technical data

These analytics are used strictly for statistical and usability improvement purposes. No directly identifiable personal information (such as name, email address, or user-generated content) is collected through this process. Sensitive input fields are masked to prevent accidental data capture.

4.1.3 Data Processing

The scanning and analysis process occurs entirely on the user's device.

The application:

  • downloads the HTML content of the URL entered by the user
  • extracts external resources from the webpage
  • determines the server location using a local GeoIP database
  • generates a scan report

No website scan data is transmitted to external servers.

4.1.4 Local Storage

The application may store data locally on the device, including:

  • generated scan reports
  • temporary scan results
  • local GeoIP database used for IP location detection

This information remains on the user's device.

4.1.5 Data Sharing

HostOrigin does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.

Data processed during website scans is not transmitted to external servers.

Third-party services may include:

  • Google authentication services used for login

These services are governed by their own privacy policies.

4.1.6 Children's Privacy

HostOrigin is not directed to children under the age of 13.

The application does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the application, please contact us so that the data can be removed.

4.1.7 Security

HostOrigin uses reasonable technical measures to protect information processed by the application.

Because most processing occurs locally on the user's device, exposure of user data is minimized.

4.2 Future Applications

Any future applications developed under TechOrigin will follow the same privacy principles:

  • minimal data collection
  • transparency of processing
  • local processing where possible

Application-specific details will be added in this section when new applications are released.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

Personal data is processed based on:

  • user consent (cookies, analytics)
  • legitimate interest (security and basic functionality)
  • contractual necessity (when using application features)

6. International Data Transfers

Some third-party services may process data outside the European Economic Area.

Where applicable, appropriate safeguards are implemented in accordance with GDPR.

7. Data Rights & Limitations

We strive to give you control over your personal data, but our ability to fulfill certain requests depends on the technical limitations of the third-party services we use (Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity).

You can manage your data as follows:

  • Delete contact form data: We can and will manually delete any emails or information you have submitted directly to us via our contact form.
  • Delete analytics data: Data collected by Google Analytics 4 or Microsoft Clarity is pseudonymized and cannot be linked to you individually. We cannot manually delete individual records for a specific user, but all analytics tracking is fully controlled by your consent. You can allow or reject tracking at any time via the GDPR Settings button, which opens the cookie banner.
  • Access and portability: You may request a copy of the personal data you provided directly to us (emails or contact form content). Analytics data is anonymized and cannot be provided on a per-user basis.
  • Stop tracking / withdraw consent: You can stop us from tracking your behavior at any time. Use the GDPR Settings button or the opt-out links provided in our Cookie Policy at https://techorigin.eu/cookie-policy.html

We act as the "controller" of the personal data you submit to us, while Google and Microsoft act as "processors" for analytics data. This means that we are bound by their technical limitations and cannot manually modify or delete individual data points on their servers if their platforms do not provide a mechanism to do so.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically.

Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date.
